That’s because this type is produced without using chemical refining and doesn’t contain counter-intuitive additives. In its highest concentration, olive oil contains squalene which promises to balance oil production and reduce inflammation. 

While we’re on the subject, less is definitely more when it comes to applying olive oil – though it’s a fabulous moisturizer and hydrator, using too much can lead to clogged pores in some skin types.

 

Avocado

Known worldwide as the ultimate Instagrammable spread and a quintessential superfood, avocados also work wonders when applied directly to the skin. 

A natural moisturizer, they are packed chock-full of fat-soluble vitamins and monounsaturated fats. Using avocado (whether you use it with other ingredients, as a standalone product, or with essential oils) will promote glowing skin and help combat acne.

No frills, no fuss. Otherwise, much like avocado, it’s great for acne prevention and treatment because it’s a natural antibacterial.

Often associated with curries rather than cosmetics, turmeric is touted as a vital supplement that can help control skin conditions such as psoriasis, lichen planus, eczema, and alopecia.
